Jo & John Warder thank you for taking the time to look at our Website.  We hope you enjoy it.

We have been involved and dedicated to Rottweilers since 1981.  We are both passionate about our beloved breed and this has dominated our lives and energy over many years.

Our journey with Rottweilers started in 1980 when we put a deposit down for a dog with Mary Simpson out of a bitch called Bassenthwaite Carol to Janbicca the Tradesman.  Unfortunately this mating did not take.  In those days, puppies were not readily available and we had to try and find another litter.  We eventually obtained a dog from Jagen Blue Larkspur & Ch Linguard Norge.  This was line-bred to Poirot Brigadier.  Unfortunately again, luck was not with us and we lost the pup to Parvo-virus on Christmas eve at about 14 weeks.  A very sad time.  We then bought a bitch of six months from Bryn Maynard called Hamal Dusty Kleo.  As we had experienced parvo-virus on our premises, we thought it safer to buy a Rottweiler a little older with a more developed immune system.  Full protection from Parvo in the 1980’s was still quite poor and full vaccines were still being developed.  Kleo was run on by Bryn for showing and eventually he decided to let her go and keep the litter sister.  She proved herself in the showring her first year and  quickly qualified for Crufts.  By this time we were well bitten by the show bug!

We are a very selective hobby  kennel.  Temperament, health and breed type being of the utmost importance to our breeding plans.  Distance is of no object to us to obtain the qualities we require. In recent years we have travelled to Europe with the Pet Passport Scheme introducing top international bloodlines to the UK and, therefore, helping to widen the gene pool in this country.  Although we only breed occasionally, a lot of thought and research goes into our breeding program.  To this end we have produced Best of Breed at Crufts 1996 with our bitch Ch Schutzer Medusa and Top Stud Dog 2003 with Schutzer the Norseman.  Our young male, Schutzer Valentino was Junior of the Year at the Midland Club Gala 2005.

Although we are a showing kennel, all our dogs are kept first & foremost as pets.  If you have ever owned a Rottweiler you will realise that they thrive on human interaction and company being very sociable animals.  Before anybody embarks on purchasing a Rottweiler, they would do well to understand the responsibilities of dog ownership and ensure that they research all they can to understand the breed.

We would encourage both new and existing owners to take their dogs to training classes.  In today’s environment Rottweiler owners have to be responsible as we are custodians of the breed.  The London & South East Rottweiler Association  holds training classes for both puppies and adults on Wednesday evenings in Laindon, Essex.  John is Chairman for this Association and Jo is also a Committee member.
We are always happy to give help and advice if we can.
